Vizcaya is a museum owned by Miami Dude County. Steeped in old world charm, the Vizcaya is open to the public for 364 days.
This enthralling sylvan retreat was built by agricultural industrialist James Deering as a winter home. The Vizcaya was designed on the pattern of an Italian estate which has been the home of a family for successive generations. It tries to capture the essence of a bygone era when beauty and grace ruled. The museum comprises of a Main House which is a National Historic Landmark, village outbuildings and extensive gardens based on Renaissance, Italian and French designs. An impressive array of art objects are displayed in the house in a collection spanning 2000 years and from countries as diverse as North America, Europe and Asia. The museum also boasts of an exceptional collection of world famous orchids. Post cards, books, jewelry and a variety of other gift items are available at its shop premises.
Opening hours: everyday except for Christmas from 9:30am- 4:30pm
