The Wolfsonian Museum is located in the heart of Miami Beach. It is an educational museum catering to South Florida's teachers and students community. Extremely popular, it is visited by more than 1,800 school students annually. The museum houses an impressive collection of American and European artifacts from the late 19th to the mid 20th century. Students are exposed to artistic murals of the past as well as contemporary art. It organizes workshops to discuss various methodologies of teaching. Guided tours are conducted to enable students to understand the fast changing lifestyles of a bygone era. In July 1997, Wolfsonian added another feather to its cap by becoming a division of Florida International University and since then developed strong ties with various academic departments of the university. Membership to the museum is open twice in an academic year. Members can be a part of exclusive international and domestic trips conducted by the museum.
