Miami Has No Subway System

The freshwater supply beneath Miami – called the Biscayne Aquifier – is the main reason why this Florida city lacks an underground rail system or subway. In fact, digging as much as 20 feet beneath Miami will tap into the Aquifier already. This Aquifier provides much of the drinking water of the South Florida metro area.

Hurricanes are also a big problem for Miami, with storms likely to hit Miami roughly from June to end of November.
