Butterfly World takes you to the natural habitat of one of the most dazzling, colorful and exotic creatures that inhabit the earth. It is located in Tradewinds Park, ten miles north of Fort Lauderdale. It opened in March 1988, making it the first and largest butterfly house in the United States. Here you walk into a different world, through tropical rain forest with lush vegetation and heady fragrances as magnificent butterflies flutter around you. There are over five thousand butterflies roaming freely in this gigantic butterfly house.

You can see them at every stage of their life cycle and watch the adult butterflies feed on exotic blossoms. The “house” is 30 feet in height and the design includes caves, trees, flowers and a waterfall to help recreate a natural environment. The collection of butterflies comes from all over the world.

Butterfly World's aviary is home to a couple of dozen lorikeets and lories, colorful parrots native to Australia and the Pacific Islands. Butterfly World also features some 70 hummingbirds sipping nectar from one of the largest collections of flowers and passion vines in the world.

Hours: Mon- Sat 9am- 5pm; Sun 1pm- 5pm.
Tickets: .95 for adults .95 for children (4- 12)
