The MIFF brings the best of world cinema to South Florida with year- round events and programs and ten days of the actual fest.

Miami is the premier venue for the US and Ibero- American cinema. Nicole Guillemet is the director of this festival. It is held in early March of every year. In the fest new films are introduced, and the producers from countries around the world often accompany the presentations of their films. Awards are categorized as Juried and Audience, Documentary and Dramatic types. Screening of this fest is held at various locations of Miami.

During the last three years, the fest has presented the films of more than 50 countries. Last year, in 2005, more than 60,000 people and 200 filmmakers and producers from around the world attended the fest.

In March 2006, the MIFF celebrated its 23rd year and took place from March 3rd to 12th. This year the venue was the Bank of America's International Place. In this fest, a total of 117 films of various categories and countries had been introduced.
