Playing professional football in America has been a mixed bag for the Miami Dolphins, particularly since their arch rival (the New York Jets) has always been nipping at their heels during previous years. On the one hand, the Miami Dolphins have more players part of the NFL Hall of Fame than the New York Jets can claim to have. But the New York Jets won both their 2007 season series games over the Miami Dolphins (though neither made it to playoffs level.)

Don Shula

The Miami Dolphins were blessed to have the famed Don Shula as their coach because Shula guided the team to two Super Bowl titles. Playing professional football in America had never been sweeter for the Miami Dolphins than when Shula was around. Shula has 347 career wins to his name, making for an NFL record in itself. Shula has formally retired from pro football coaching.
