Deering Estate

The Deering Estate is a serene retreat – far from the maddening crowd - where rustling palms, the song of birds and the splash of bay water make the visitor forget the harsh city life.

Owned by Charles Deering, it is a historical landmark dedicated to create public awareness of the environment. The five historic buildings of the estate date back to 1896. Built along classical lines, they take you back to another era – to a leisurely pace of life when time stood still.

The 440- acre property encompasses globally endangered pine rockland habitat, as well as coastal tropical hardwood hammocks, mangrove forests, salt marshes, a coastal sand dune island and the submerged resources of Biscayne Bay.

Visitors who want to tour the wild outdoors are free to explore the various ecosystems of the park.

Special social and business functions including corporate events, special tours, weddings and public events are held on the estate throughout the year.
